REVIVING THE OLD STORIES TO CREATE NEW MYTHS

UPCOMING AMERICAN MYTH

THE BACCHAE PROJECT

A CULINARY CONCERT READING

The fallen soldiers of the South return home from the Great War in wooden boxes.  The women of Thebes, Virginia funnel their despair into the making of an all-powerful God, Dionotos, who is capable of controlling the history of the war and its aftermath by countering the terrible truths with comfortable lies.  The Bacchae Project tells the story of those who attempt to stop this new God and those who worship Her.

Adapted from Euripides’ The BacchaeThe Bacchae Project is a new American Myth that seeks to spark a conversation around the power of false narratives and how they may be confronted.

Told through poetry and music, this concert reading at Mountain Fiesta will be a first peek at this developing production, slated to play across Buncombe County next summer.  The evening’s ticket will include appetizers and small plates, catered by Chef Mo.

Save the Date: October 20

Tickets will go on sale soon. Check back here for details.

An appalachian christmas carol, 2019

APPCC.jpg

Over three nights in December at the Vance Birthplace in Weaverville, we will present one of the greatest Christmas stories ever told, but with our own Zebulon Vance right smack dab in the middle. Through the theatrical magic of toy theatre, we transport the audience directly into the Christmas Carol for an extraordinary and illuminating journey through the entire site of the Birthplace. We create this American Myth to spark a conversation around empathy and the complexity of Zebulon Vance.
